AGENDA
JUDGING FOR SHOWS AND AWARDS.
We have some exciting shows ahead - our Society Show, the SAOC National Conference and Show in White River in September and our 50th birthday Conference and Show in 2007. No doubt everyone will be eager to exhibit their plants and hopefully win accolades and prizes! To know what to look for in you plants and of course their flowers, we will have our SAOC Judges present to guide you in the right direction. They will be commenting mainly on plants from the Plant Table. If you have something in flower that you wish specifically discussed please make a note on the card that accompanies the plant.
There will be a Plant Table, Plant Sales Table and Raffle so come prepared.

JANUARY MEETING
The reprinted version of the Constitution including the various amendments that have been made over the years was passed at the January meeting with a note that the subsections to 26 also be listed as 1,2, 3etc for conformity.
We must extend a very sincere vote of thanks to Bes Gous for her 'Tribute to Louis Vogelpoel' through his slides. It was wonderful to see the extent of his love for plants in general and his enthusiasm to record them through his excellent photography.
Our thanks to Volkmar Schmidt for his donations towards the raffle.
CAPE JUDGING REGION
Congratulations to Mike Tibbs whose Doritaenopsis Nobby's Purple received an Award of Merit of 81% from the SAOC Judges when it was judged at our January meeting. It was a deep lavender with flares on the tips of all the tepals.
The monthly judging meetings take place on the 2nd Saturday of each month. Please contact Ellie van der Hoven (ph. 790 2433 (a/h)) for details. Sheila Smith can be contacted on 558 5820 if you have a plant for judging.
50TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Remember this is in 2007. Get involved and be part of a really special event to celebrate our 50th birthday! Nobody should feel excluded as there will be a variety of opportunities for COS Members to earn the right to attend the Show, Conference and/or social events at a reduced and affordable rate. This offer is exclusively for COS Members who volunteer to help for example in the preparation of the Show and Conference and/or at the Show and Conference in a myriad of ways…offer/help organise accommodation, transport guests to and from airport and their place of accommodation; do duties at the show venue…entrance, sales, stewards; help put up exhibits etc. There are always loads of jobs big and small that need to be done and we need YOU to help.
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTIONS
The Membership renewal subscriptions should have been paid by the 31 December 2005. If you still need to pay your subs, please see Jacques or Susan at the next meeting.
LOST PROPERTY
A white serving plate was left behind after our party at the November meeting last year. If it is yours, please contact the Secretary Susan Olfsen.
CATALOGUES
The latest catalogue and price lists for Outeniqua Orchid Nursery (Else Hall) and for Plantae (Tinus and Nollie) are available from Susan Olfsen.
AGM
March will be our AGM and we require nominations for the various positions on Committee. Please give this serious thought. We are particularly in need of a Secretary as Susan Olfsen will not be standing as Secretary and Hendrik van der Hoven is not available for re-election. ALL positions require nominations, so make sure that you complete the attached form to ensure there is a full Committee for the 2006/7 year.
